INSTRUCTOR:
BETH LOWELL

Celebrate National Wolf Awareness Week with this wonderful wolf drawing class offered by returning artist Beth Lowell.

In this single-session class, participants will learn the maquette technique, also referred to as the construction technique, to complete a drawing of a wolf. Maquettes are models or sketches often used by sculptors to achieve a three-dimensional look from which to work. In this technique, the subject is broken down into simple shapes like circles, triangles, and wedges to create form. Once the basic shapes are rendered, the rest of the drawing can be completed.

We'll start out with some timed warm up exercises to get you used to using shapes to create form, and the rest of the class will be devoted to a longer exercise in which you'll have more time to execute a finished drawing of a wolf.
