SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2023
9:30am - 12:00pm PACIFIC TIME
VIA ZOOM (CLASS WILL BE RECORDED AND AVAILABLE FOR TWO WEEKS)

You may register after the class date and before February 4th to receive a link to the recording. NOTE: THE RECORDING WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE 4TH.

The templates and grids we’ll often use in this series are time-saving devices employed by artists and designers past and present. We’ll carefully craft templates to generate grids used in our classes, and discuss using grids for other applications. Next, we’ll use our gridded sheets to explore what you can do with a myriad of tools and art materials, including inks, paints, brushes, pens, markers, pencils, pastel, calligraphy tools, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, palettes, book arts tools, and more.

Discussion will include historical and contemporary applications of the grid system and how grids result in quilt-like pages in journals and artist’s books. The purchase of the tools we’ll explore is not required! Use this class to ask questions about art supplies and see different tools in use before deciding whether to buy them. Demos and Q&A will empower you to build a personalized art supply kit.

Note: This class is highly recommended as a foundation for our series!
